When Jesus turns over the tables in the Temple in Matthew 21 – he quotes the Old Testament prophet Isaiah – “This is to be a house of prayer”. Isaiah also had the vision that it would be a place of welcome for all people and all nations. As we come together in different ways in worship this weekend, being challenged by different scriptures, we are also united in the vision that we are called as a church to be places that welcome all nations, offer refuge and hope and prayer not just ourselves but for all the people of the world. To look deeply at the things happening here and now in our time and God’s world – and be prepared to turn the tables on all that acts against that welcome and invitation to all people.
At Harvest at All Saints we celebrate and give thanks for gifts given and say thank you to Mark Simms who has served as an LLM for over 15 years – all are welcome. At St Marys we give thanks for many years of service of one of our choir members Mervyn Harding. Their gifts to these communities have been huge and deeply faithful and prayerful. All are welcome to join us to celebrate with them in these houses of prayer.
